ABOUT BRONZE CASTING

Here is the wax model for casting Gear and Flower Opposition.
Sprues (red colored wax), vents (straws), and cup are used in pouring process.  At the far right, a mold (one of the cylinders shown) is built to contain the wax model.  The wax is "burned out" in a kiln forming an empty cavity in the mold.  Molten bronze is poured into the mold, fills the cavity where the wax was, and forms the sculpture shown above.
