I initially became involved with metal sculpting through welding. I use both an oxy-acetylene torch and a MIG welder in my work. I love the equipment and the intense heat associated with welding; this seems to elevate and magnify any concept I’m bringing forth as a sculpture or product. I began sculpting metal with artifacts reclaimed from local junkyards, transforming them into more organically derived forms. As my involvement with glass has increased, metal retains its poetic role while assuming more of a structural component to support and accentuate my sculpted glass pieces.
